Kansas Comes Up Empty Again in Trip to Missouri

After watching a 17-point lead evaporate against No. 3 Kansas, Missouri shrugged and went back to work.

Kareem Rush had 27 points and 11 rebounds for the Tigers, who didn’t crumble in a 75-66 victory over the No. 3 Jayhawks on Monday night at Columbia, Mo.

Kansas, 17-2 overall and 6-1 in the Big 12, has lost the last five times it has come to Missouri ranked in the top 25. This time, Missouri (14-6, 5-2) ended Kansas’ 10-game winning streak.

Kansas erased a 17-point second-half deficit with an 18-0 run before Missouri regrouped to pull away.

Drew Gooden led Kansas with 19 points.

No. 12 Syracuse 70, No. 14 Georgetown 63--The Orangemen (17-3, 6-2 in the Big East) made only three of 16 three-point shots, but DeShaun Williams and Allen Griffin made one each in a 10-1 run late in the second half that helped them beat the Hoyas (17-3, 4-3) at Syracuse, N.Y.

Preston Shumpert and Damone Brown each had 23 points for Syracuse, which led, 37-22, at halftime.

Georgetown got within 64-60 before Syracuse pulled away for good. Kevin Braswell led the Hoyas with 23 points.

WOMEN

UC Riverside 74, Cal State Fullerton 71 (OT)--Stephanie Hughes made both of her free throws in the last minute of overtime to give Riverside a 73-71 lead. Amy Houchens, who had 19 points, added Riverside’s last point, making one of two free throws.

Hughes also helped send the game into overtime, making two free throws with five seconds left in regulation to tie the score, 59-59. Hughes finished with 22 points, making 10 of 15 at the free-throw line, and blocked five shots. Riverside (6-15) made 31 of 50 free throws.

The Titans (0-18) made only four of 10 free throws in overtime. Tamara Quinn had 23 points and Danielle Robinson had 11 points and 15 rebounds for Fullerton.
