The Ferris wheel at Comerica Park in Detroit got stuck Wednesday during the Tigers’ game against the Kansas City Royals, trapping people inside the ride for two hours.

Firefighters and emergency crews removed riders from the amusement ride with a cherry picker and a fire truck ladder. The work continued as a rainstorm hit and the game was delayed.

Rescuers got the last of the passengers off the wheel about 4 p.m. There were no reports of injuries, and no one was in danger, authorities said.

A parachutist broke an ankle in an accident during a pregame ceremony at Miller Park in Milwaukee.

Ralph Henderson, 51, of Delafield, Wis., failed to descend through the retractable roof and landed instead on a track beam next to the field lights several hundred feet off the ground.

Another parachutist missed Miller Park altogether, landing at the site of the old County Stadium several hundred yards to the south.
