Irvine Coach Swail Captures Triathlon
Julie Swail, women’s water polo coach at UC Irvine, won the women’s division Sunday at the Pacific Coast Triathlon in Newport Beach.
Swail, 28, captain of the U.S. women’s water polo team that won a silver medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, finished the half-mile swim, 12-mile bike and three-mile run in 1 hour 6 minutes 41 seconds. Dolly Ginter of Huntington Beach was second in 1:07.31.
Matthew Clark of Australia was the overall winner in 1:00.16.
