O.C. Team Reaches Mickey Mantle Series
The Saddleback Valley Devils, an Orange County-based baseball team for 16-year-olds that won the Mickey Mantle League state championship earlier this month, defeated the Sunnyside (Ariz.) Blue Devils, 4-1, to win the West Regional at Las Cruces, N.M.
Daniel Strough of Anaheim Servite High pitched a complete game for the Devils, who advanced to the Mickey Mantle World Series, starting Wednesday at McKinley, Texas.
The Devils also finished fourth last month in the Junior Olympic Championships, a national tournament in Tucson, Ariz.
