HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL
Placentia El Dorado 9, Westlake Village Westlake 0--Nick McMillan pitched the first shutout of his career and the Golden Hawks won the Division III title.
McMillan (9-1), a 6-foot-4 right-hander, pitched a three-hitter, striking out nine and walking one for No. 3-seeded El Dorado (26-5), which won its second title in three seasons.
“My fastball was moving and shaking and baking,” said McMillan, a senior who pitched only 1 1/3 innings last season. “I kept them on their heels.”
Micah Hazen had two hits and three RBIs, including a two-run double in the first inning that gave El Dorado a 3-0 lead.
Top-seeded Westlake (25-7-1) gave up five unearned runs and had only one hit through five innings, a bloop single in the third by Luke Riordan.
