RiverPark Project Gets Preliminary OK

Share

The Oxnard City Council has given an initial go-ahead to the developer of the city’s biggest commercial and residential project ever, the $750-million RiverPark.

The council last week discussed the first phase of the project, which would include retail stores, a hotel and a food-and-wine exposition in the area bordered by the Ventura Freeway, the Santa Clara River, Vineyard Avenue and Collins Street.

A second phase of construction to the north would include 2,700 houses, a school and sports fields.

The agreement approved Tuesday covered several points, including how commercial tenants would be approved and freeway improvements.

Members of the public did not voice opposition to the plan.
