Baker had 14 goals and 14 assists, despite missing several games with a sprained ankle. A first-team All-Sea View League selection, she was the key to the Wolverines winning their first Southern Section Division I title.

MISSION VIEJO MIDFIELDER SR.

Another player of the year candidate, Billingsley, who will play at UCLA, led the Diablos in scoring with 18 goals and 15 assists. Making her second appearance on The Times’ first team, she was the force behind Mission Viejo winning its Division II title.

Daniella Bosio

SANTA MARGARITA DEFENDER JR

Bosio, a first-team All-Serra League selection, has been the Eagles’ sweeper since her freshman year. She backed a defense that outscored playoff opponents 21-1. She helped the Eagles win their fourth division title in five years.

Ashley Casas

CAPISTRANO VALLEY FORWARD SR.

The hardest-working forward in the county, Casas was the Cougars’ leading scorer with 11 goals and five assists. A Parade All-American selection, the USC-bound speedster led the Cougars to the Division I semifinals.

Kim Devine

Devine led the Wolverines to their first Division I title with 23 goals and 17 assists. A great ballhandler with a sprinter’s speed, Devine, who will play at Brigham Young University next season, was a first-team All-Sea View League selection.

Katie Frattone

SANTA MARGARITA FORWARD SR.

A legitimate candidate for player of the year, she helped Santa Margarita win its fourth section title in five years. Frattone, who is headed to St. Mary’s, had 21 goals and 10 assists for the Eagles and was named the Serra League’s MVP.

Nicole Harrison

EDISON DEFENDER SR

Harrison was voted the Sunset League’s Most Valuable Player and was a crucial part of the Chargers’ defense. Edison recorded 19 shutouts and allowed only one goal in league--on a penalty kick--advancing to the Division II semifinals.

Lindsey Huie

MISSION VIEJO MIDFIELDER SR.

She had five goals and nine assists, alternating between the midfield and stopper positions. Headed to Portland, she helped the Diablos’ post 17 shutouts. Coach Susie Daher said Huie is “the best all-around player” she has ever seen.

Simi Phull

SUNNY HILLS FORWARD SR.

Phull was the county’s most productive scorer with 44 goals and 21 assists, scoring in 23 of the 28 games in which she played. She set the career scoring record at Sunny Hills with 121 goals and was a first-team All-Freeway League selection all four years.

Ashley Swanson

WOODBRIDGE DEFENDER SR

The Sea View League’s player of the year, Portland-bound Swanson is considered the best defender in the county by many coaches. Swanson led Woodbridge to the league title and to the county’s top-ranking at the end of the season.

Britta Vogele

CORONA DEL MAR GOALKEEPER SR

Opposing coaches said Vogele was a dominating presence in the box. She had only one loss in her 29 games, a sudden-death defeat in the Division IV semifinals. Corona del Mar’s only other loss came in a game Vogele missed because of injury.

SECOND TEAM

BROOKE THULIN, Edison, forward, Sr.

Led Edison to the Division II semifinals with 17 goals and nine assists. She was selected the Sunset League Offensive Player of the Year.

CHRISTENE JOHNSON, Woodbridge, forward, Sr.

Florida-bound Johnson is a Parade All-American selection who led the Warriors with 18 goals and seven assists.

ALLISON HARVEY, Corona del Mar, forward, Sr.

The co-MVP of the Pacific Coast League, Harvey finished with 25 goals to lead Corona del Mar to the Division IV semifinals.

ROBIN BENNETT, El Dorado, forward, Jr.

Led El Dorado with 13 goals and 10 assists, despite missing seven games with a bruised kidney. She was an integral part of the Hawks’ first semifinal appearance.

AMY BURLINGHAM, Newport Harbor, forward, So.

A dominating attacker, Burlingham helped guide the Sailors to their first quarterfinal appearance in school history.

KRISTEN MOORE, Capistrano Valley, midfielder, Sr.

Moore, who will play at Portland, was hampered all year with a sprained ankle but still helped the Cougars advance to the semifinals by controlling the middle.

JENNY ANDERSON, Santa Margarita, midfielder, Sr.

Headed to Clemson, Anderson was a four-year starter and four-time first-team All-Serra League pick. The Eagles’ playmaker, she finished with eight goals and six assists.

HEATHER JABLONSKY, Esperanza, midfielder, Jr.

She was the strength of Esperanza’s middle, leading the Aztecs to the Division I semifinals and to a second-place finish in the Sunset League.

KATIE ROCHE, Costa Mesa, defender, Sr.

The co-MVP of the Pacific Coast League, the sweeper was Costa Mesa’s defensive mainstay, as well as scoring six goals and passing out four assists.

KATIE LENNON, Rosary, defender, Sr.

Set Rosary’s single-season assist record with 20. She also scored eight goals, despite playing the last half of the season with a stress fracture in her left foot.

MARISSA WELLIVER, Aliso Niguel, goalkeeper, So.

Welliver, who played like a seasoned-veteran despite getting into the goal for her first varsity season, allowed only eight goals and recorded 21 shutouts.
