* Re “Runaway Rig Crashes; 1 Dead, 6 Hurt” (March 9):

According to the CHP report, the primary collision factor where truck drivers are at fault has spread. In 1999 there were 36 people killed and 2,595 injured in truck-at-fault collisions in California.

In 1986, our 27-year-old son was killed by a speeding tractor-trailer operating below maintenance standards, with no logbook. Nothing has changed.
