* Anthony Ervin, a sophomore at California and Hart High graduate, tied NCAA, American and U.S. Open records by winning the 100-yard freestyle in 41.80 Saturday at the NCAA championships at Texas A&M.;

Ervin’s time equaled the mark set by former California standout Matt Biondi in 1987.

Justin Dumais, a junior at Texas and Buena graduate, placed second in platform diving With 564.85 points. Dumais finished behind Miami’s Kyle Prandi, who had 591.75.

Troy Dumais, also a junior at Texas and Justin’s younger brother, placed sixth on the platform with 348.85 points. Troy Dumais won the three-meter and one-meter springboard titles for the second consecutive year.

TENNIS

* Skate Gorham of Ojai defeated Carsten Ball of Newport Beach, 6-1, 6-2, in the boys’ 14 final, and Doug Stewart of Malibu defeated Matthew Loucks of Irvine, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, in the boys’ 18 final on Sunday in the 45th annual Long Beach Junior Championships in Cypress.

Sarah Fansler of Thousand Oaks finished third in girls’ 14 and Leyla Entekhabi of Agoura Hills was third in girls’ 12.

BASEBALL

* Ian Feldman, a 15-year-old sophomore catcher at Hart High, has been selected to play for the U.S. team at the World Maccabiah Games July 16-26 in Israel.
