Bicyclist Hit, Killed in Huntington Beach

A bicyclist was killed early Tuesday when a car struck him at a Huntington Beach intersection, police said.

Ronald Dean Bracher, 58, of Huntington Beach, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered major head trauma and died at the scene, Lt. Luis Ochoa said.

The accident occurred about 4:30 a.m. on Beach Boulevard when a Chevy Tahoe driven by Patrick Gayner, 35, of Huntington Beach hit Bracher as he was crossing east on Garfield Avenue, Ochoa said. Police do not know who, if anyone, was at fault.

Gayner was not cited. Police have ruled out alcohol as a factor but are still investigating the accident.
