Crespi’s Moore, Anyanwu Share Award

Andrew Moore and Kingsley Anyanwu of Crespi High, and Keilon Fortune of Kilpatrick share Southern Section boys’ division player of the year basketball awards.

Courtney Young of Buena and Eshaya Murphy of Montclair Prep have been selected girls’ division players of the year.

Melissa Hearlihy of Harvard-Westlake was selected coach of the year in girls’ Division III and Lindsay Strothers of Oak Park earned the award in girls’ Division IV-AA.

Dick Dornan of Crespi was chosen boys’ coach of the year for Division IV-AA.

Young shares player of the year honors with Veronica Johns-Richardson of Fullerton Troy in I-A.

Murphy won the honor for Division V-AA.

Moore and Anyanwu share the honor for IV-AA.

Fortune shares the award with Tim Drisdom of Downey Calvary Chapel in V-AA.

TRACK AND FIELD

* Anita Siraki of Hoover High, the top-ranked 3,200-meter runner in the nation last year, has committed to Stanford.

Siraki, defending state champion in the 3,200, won her second consecutive state Division I cross-country title in November and was the runner-up in the national championships in December.

She has bests of 4:49.71 in the 1,600 and 10:14.2 in the 3,200 and is the two-time defending Southern Section Division I champion in each race.

GOLF

* The Kokon Open, in honor of the late sportswriter Pete Kokon, will be held April 30 at Woodland Hills Country Club.

The event is open to any golfer, with funds going to the Pierce College baseball program.

Cost is $125.
