The Marmonte League often saves its best for last.

Three pitchers have been racking up saves--Ryan McCarthy of Westlake and Mike Nykoluk of Simi Valley each have five, and Adam Hersh of Agoura has four.

“If you look at the scores, there’s been a lot of one-run games this year,” Simi Valley Coach Joe Gordon said.

Hart has 237 hits, 175 runs, 64 doubles, 18 home runs and is ranked No. 1 in the region by The Times, but one thing is missing . . . triples.

Hart (21-1, 10-1) has yet to hit one this season.

The Delphic League logjam--four teams within a game of each other for first place--will start to sort itself out this week.

Montclair Prep (10-7, 4-1) and two-time defending champion Campbell Hall (10-7-1, 4-1) play twice, with the Mounties trying to avenge a second-place finish to Campbell Hall last season.

“These are big games this week,” Montclair Prep Coach Marc Saraceno said.
