Division II preliminaries--Porchea Carroll of Rio Mesa qualified for the finals in three girls’ events at Mt. San Antonio College.

The finals are next week at Cerritos College.

Carroll was second in the 100 meters in 11.81 seconds, the 200 in 24.67 and the long jump at 17-9.

Rio Mesa’s 400 relay team, anchored by Carroll, qualified first with a season-best time of 47.54.

Carroll, an Arizona State-bound senior who is ranked No. 2 in the 100 and 200, was bested by No. 1-ranked Angel Perkins of Cerritos Gahr in both events.

Rio Mesa’s Natalie Valenzuela qualified first in the shotput at 39-1 1/2.

Agoura’s Laura Jakosky, ranked No. 1 in the 3,200, qualified in 10:47.05, finishing behind Amber Steen of Newport Harbor.

Canyon’s Jamesom Mora (9:17.18), Luke Llamas (9:21.85) and Nick Zoeteway (9:22.12) were the top three qualifiers in the 3,200.

Chris Foster of Ventura qualified first in the 110 high hurdles in 14.15.

Freshman Alysia Johnson of Canyon, ranked No. 1 in the 800, qualified first in 2:15.49.
