Council to Fine Hosts for Letting Minors Drink
In a crackdown on underage drinking, the City Council has decided to start fining party hosts $100 if they have more than five minors at a beer bash and three or more have been drinking.
Drinking by minors has become a crisis, leaders and residents say.
The new ordinance passed 4 to 1, with Councilwoman Christine Mulholland dissenting.
Councilman John Ewan said, “If you can’t monitor what goes on inside your home, then you’ve got too big a party.”
