Palisades Back in the Swim

Palisades High won its 15th girls’ swimming championship--its first since 1994--at the City Section finals Wednesday at Belmont Plaza Pool in Long Beach.
Freshman Cara Davidoff won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events in 24.52 seconds and 54.13, respectively, and also led the Dolphins’ 200- and 400-yard relay teams to victory.
Palisades placed in nearly every event and accumulated 287 points to defeat second-place Woodland Hills El Camino Real (260 points), Reseda Cleveland (146). Granada Hills, winner of the last six titles, was fourth (126).
Granada Hills won the boys’ title with 222 points, ending Venice’s streak of six consecutive titles. The Gondoliers finished seventh. Palisades was second (148) followed by Van Nuys Birmingham (137) and Cleveland (134).
