Madrigal Tops Card at Pond
Flyweight Carlos Madrigal of Oxnard, coming off a first-round knockout of former USBA champion Pedro Pena, faces Miguel Angel Granados of Mexico City tonight in the 10-round main event at the Arrowhead Pond.
Madrigal (15-2, 10 knockouts) stopped Pena two months ago at the Pond with a barrage of punches late in the first round. Granados (19-12, eight knockouts) won a North American Boxing Federation title three years ago.
The undercard features heavyweight Phillip Reynolds (1-0), a Anaheim High graduate, against Ventura’s Shane Harris (0-2). In a flyweight bout, Santiago High graduate Mary Duron (2-0) will face Bertha Gonzalez (2-3) of San Fernando. The undercard begins at 7:30.
