Utah Doesn’t Have a Shot Against No. 21 Alabama

Terrance Meade scored 18 points and Rod Grizzard had 16 points and 11 rebounds as No. 21 Alabama defeated Utah, 76-61, in a nonconference game Monday night at Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The Crimson Tide (4-1) shot 63% in the second half and led throughout against the Utes (2-2).

Erwin Dudley scored 12 points for Alabama and Kenny Walker had 10, including the game’s first seven points.

Jeff Johnsen had 11 points and Lance Allred and Britton Johnson scored 10 points apiece for Utah.

But the Utes’ starting five was a combined 11 for 36 from the field for 31 points.

Utah never got closer than 14 points in the second half, trailing by as many as 22.

No. 18 Georgetown 103, Grambling State 69--Wesley Wilson set career highs with 23 points and 13 rebounds as the Hoyas feasted on another overmatched team at Washington.

The Hoyas (4-1) won despite playing without their leading scorer and rebounder Michael Sweetney (strained Achilles’ tendon) and reserve guard Tony Bethel (mononucleosis), and they temporarily lost reserve forward Harvey Thomas with an injured left ankle.

Kasib Powell scored 19 points as Texas Tech improved to 4-1 under Bob Knight with an 81-56 victory over Texas El Paso (2-3) at Lubbock....Jimmie Haywood tied his career high with 20 points as Oregon State (3-2) defeated San Diego (2-2), 65-56, at Corvallis, Ore.
