Suspect Is Identified in Slaying of Businessman
Police identified a suspect Thursday in the slaying of a businessman during a robbery, authorities said.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Eugene Trifonov, 26, in the shooting of Jack Younesi, 72, at the victim’s business in the 8500 block of Wilshire Boulevard on Oct. 4, LAPD Lt. Edward Kreins said.
Younesi was an importer/exporter who dealt primarily in watches, Kreins said. Police declined to reveal additional details, but a detective said Younesi did not appear to know Trifonov.
Trifonov is 5 feet 10 inches and about 190 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. He is believed to be driving a burgundy 1995 Mercedes-Benz SL500 convertible with California plate ZHEKA. He is believed to be armed, Kreins said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Tom Lineham at (310) 285-2143.
