Silence Is Golden
Regarding the restriction on helicopters flying over Los Angeles, according to Jeff Wald, KTLA-TV news director, no viewers have complained (“Skies Beginning to Clear for Private Planes,” Oct. 23). There is a good reason for this! Residents of the restricted sky area of L.A. have enjoyed an unprecedented period of not being assaulted from early morning and throughout the day and evening by helicopters’ invasive noise.
Our stress level is greatly reduced; we do not miss endless hours of televised car chases. Traffic advisories on the radio have been perfectly adequate during this restricted period. In many European cities, planes and helicopters are not allowed to fly overhead. Can we not try for the same quality of life here in L.A.?
