Edit Pakay of Loyola Marymount won the West Coast title Saturday at the Crystal Springs course in Belmont, Calif.
Pakay, a Hungarian native who came to Loyola Marymount on a tennis scholarship in the fall of 1999, clocked 17:58 over the 5,000-meter course.
She’s the school’s first WCC champion since Regina Marie Eroen in 1991.
Her time broke the school record of 18:13 for the Crystal Springs course set by Tamara Wold in 1986.
It was the fourth-fastest women’s time in the WCC championships.
