A Rowland Heights woman was killed early Monday in a multi-vehicle crash on the Pomona Freeway, police said.
The 38-year-old woman, whose name was not released, was a passenger in a car headed east on the freeway just before 4 a.m. when it rear-ended another vehicle, then stalled in the fast lane near Azusa Avenue, California Highway Patrol Officer Spencer Ammons said.
He said the victim’s car was then struck from behind by a third vehicle. The impact pushed the stalled car into the center divider and ejected the victim.
The woman was taken to a Whittier hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Three people in the other cars were treated for minor injuries. The driver of the car involved in the initial accident with the victim’s vehicle fled the scene, Ammons said.
