People in more than 200 homes and businesses have been told not to drink the water coming out of their taps.
Officials believe that the wells of Casa Loma Mutual Water Co. have been tainted by a dry-cleaning solvent for 10 years. Water quality regulators said they did not know where the chemical came from but that it was Casa Loma’s responsibility to clean it up.
More than twice the state standard for perchloroethylene was found in the wells last month.
