Cerritos 28, No. 25 La Mirada 17--Cerritos quarterback Tim Austin completed 21 of 29 passes for 240 yards and one touchdown and rushed for another score in the Suburban League game at La Mirada High.
Austin scored on a 13-yard keeper with 4:55 left to play to give Cerritos (3-0) the lead for good.
Cerritos running back Kenneth Frank carried the ball 16 times for 140 and three touchdowns, including an 85-yard reception on a flee-flicker from wide receiver Michael Rubie to tie the score at 7-7 in the first quarter.
La Mirada running back Garrett Busk rushed for 128 yards and scored two touchdowns in 11 carries.
With La Mirada (2-1) ahead, 21-17, late in the fourth quarter, Busk fumbled and Spencer Kennedy recovered the ball inside La Mirada’s 25-yard line for Cerritos, leading to the Dons’ game-winning touchdown.
