Barry Bonds, of course. After hitting 73 home runs to set the single-season mark last year, he hits a three-run shot to left in the second inning and follows with a solo homer to right in the seventh.

Besides Dodger ace Kevin Brown, there’s Omar Daal. Unhappy to be relegated to the bullpen, he gets a chance to pitch opening day and serves up Bonds’ second homer. The heart of the Dodger lineup--Nos. 3-7--manage only one hit (by Shawn Green).
