Grant in Elite Company

When Billie Jo Grant of Arroyo Grande won the girls’ discus throw with a career-best 175 feet 3 inches in the San Luis Obispo County championships on April 6, she became the fourth Eagle to land on the all-time Southern Section list.

Grant’s throw moved her to second behind former Arroyo Grande standout Stephanie Brown, who threw 181-3 to win the 1998 state title. Former Arroyo Grande throwers Michelle Pequignot (162-10 last year) and Nadia Lopez (161-9 in 1995) are seventh and 10th.
