The city begins a five-phase streetlight replacement project today along the western end of Ventura Boulevard, said a spokesman for the Los Angeles Department of Public Works.

The $1.35-million project, stretching from Corbin Avenue to Valley Circle Boulevard in Woodland Hills, will take the Bureau of Street Lighting five years to complete, said public works spokesman Robert Reed.

Streetlight project--A story in some editions of Thursday’s California section incorrectly identified the boundaries of a city project to replace the streetlights on Ventura Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley. Lights will be replaced over the next five years from Valley Circle Boulevard in Woodland Hills to Barham Boulevard in Studio City.

The 194 new streetlights will have 40-foot poles, 6-foot arms and 400-watt lamps in the traditional “cobra-head” style, he said. They will replace all of the existing lights, which need new wiring.
