Oxnard Motorist, 19, Is Killed in Crash
An Oxnard man was killed early Tuesday after losing control of his sport utility vehicle near Camarillo and crashing into a road guardrail.
Juan Ortega, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene, county Deputy Medical Examiner Mike Feiler said.
Ortega was driving south on Somis Road, just north of Las Posas Road, when his vehicle veered out of control as he approached a bridge, California Highway Patrol spokesman Steve Reid said.
Ortega was thrown from the vehicle and was found lying in the roadway by a passing motorist.
He was not wearing a seat belt, authorities said.
