Tennessee wide receiver Kelley Washington will miss Saturday’s season opener against Wyoming because of a sprained right knee.

“We’ll play it week-to-week, and it’s something that should get better with time,” Coach Phillip Fulmer said. “We don’t expect any long-term problems, but the thing just kept being sore.”

Three Arizona football players will help build homes for the needy on Sept. 11 instead of serving suspensions for their run-ins with police.

Coach John Mackovic said wide receiver Bobby Wade and defensive ends Javier Martinez and Andre Torrey will work a construction shift with Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit group that constructs homes for underprivileged residents.
