Wait a Minute! Our Daughters?
Envious wretches as we are here in Bakersfield, we watch in awe as the sports scene each season develops in Los Angeles. We agonize with you as you handle the problems of the many sports entities wending their way through whatever it is.
We are aghast, though, at a new tone emerging in a letter to The Times [Dec. 21] regarding the Lakers and their management, especially Mr. Buss and Mr. Jackson. A Mr. Campbell from Glendale (which we always considered very sophisticated) espouses offering up one’s daughters to Mr. Jackson to atone for the lack of enthusiasm of his minions this season.
This is a pretty awful suggestion and we expect that you will be deluged by letters of protest, especially from the Athletic Division of the NOW gang. Looking forward to your smooth work to come in this matter.
