* Burbank Bell-Jeff posted a 44-43 victory over Ventura St. Bonaventure in a pool-play game at the Village Christian tournament despite scoring only two points in the fourth quarter. Bell-Jeff’s Brian Alfaro made a free throw with one second remaining to give the Guards the victory.

CLUTCH

* Andrew Gutierrez made three free throws with 6.9 seconds left in overtime to give El Monte a 57-56 victory over Covina Gladstone. Gutierrez had 16 points.

* Allen McMillian made a short baseline jumper with three seconds remaining to give Reseda Cleveland a 46-44 victory over Newhall Hart in a semifinal of the Hart tournament.

UPSETS

* L.A. Price defeated then-No. 7 Moreno Valley Canyon Springs, 68-51, in a semifinal of the Lynwood tournament. Derrick Williams scored 23 points for the Knights.

* Walnut defeated then-No. 12 Lakewood Artesia, 65-61, in overtime in a semifinal of the Nogales tournament. Darnell Gilbert hit a three-point shot with 16 seconds left in the extra period to put Walnut ahead to stay.

* Santa Margarita defeated then-No. 13 Crenshaw, 59-50, in a consolation game at the Encinitas Torrey Pines tournament. Todd Follmer scored 21 points and had 11 rebounds and Tyler Smith added 15 points and 10 rebounds for Santa Margarita.

LOOKING AHEAD

* Local NBA fans can catch a glimpse of swingman LeBron James, a potential lottery pick, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Pauley Pavilion when James and Akron (Ohio) St. Vincent-St. Mary play Santa Ana Mater Dei in the Dream Classic. In other games involving Southland teams, Los Angeles Loyola plays Lakewood Mayfair at 3 p.m. and Compton Centennial plays Carson at 4:45 p.m.
