2 Men Sought in Teen’s Slaying
Authorities are searching for two men suspected in a drive-by shooting that left a Canoga Park high school student dead.
Michael Urquidi, 17, died Tuesday afternoon at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, an hour after he was shot in the chest while standing in front of West Valley Leadership Academy Community Education Center, an alternative school for at-risk teens and those on probation, Los Angeles Police Det. Rick Swanston said.
Swanston said the two men, believed to be between 18 and 20 years old, were in a silver Ford F-150 pickup truck with a white, metal toolbox in its bed.
Before the shooting, the men were in a fight with two students near the school, Swanston said.
Urquidi, a high school junior, had been in the program since it opened a year ago, a county education office spokeswoman said.
