The Arizona Diamondbacks, looking to bolster their bullpen for the second half of the season, acquired setup man Mike Fetters from Pittsburgh for prospect Duaner Sanchez on Saturday night.

Fetters is 1-0 with a 3.26 earned-run average in 32 relief appearances this season and was 2-1 in 52 games for the Pirates since they acquired him from the Dodgers for Terry Mulholland last season.

“This is what you play the game for, a chance to win a championship,” Fetters said.

Sanchez, 22, can throw in the mid-90s and was 0-0 with a 4.91 ERA in six appearances with Arizona. He was assigned to the Pirates’ triple-A Nashville farm club.

Tampa Bay third baseman Russ Johnson left the team and returned home to Baton Rouge, La., until after the All-Star break for personal reasons.
