Pirates Beat Brewers, 9-8
Craig Wilson lined a bases-loaded single with one out in the bottom of the 11th inning Saturday night to give the Pittsburgh Pirates a 9-8 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Jack Wilson opened the inning with a double for his first career four-hit game.
Jason Kendall singled off the body of pitcher Ray King (1-2) and Brian Giles was intentionally walked. With Pittsburgh’s bench depleted, pitcher Kip Wells pinch-hit and struck out. Wilson then hit an 0-and-1 pitch to left to give the Pirates their second consecutive victory.
Pittsburgh had been 0-30 when trailing after eight innings.
