A Canadian man was arrested Tuesday after authorities said they found 124 pounds of high-grade marijuana in a van he was driving.

The California Highway Patrol arrested Chung Thompson after a traffic stop on the San Diego Freeway, said Orlando Lopez, a Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement agent.

The marijuana had a wholesale value of more than $600,000 and a street value in the millions of dollars, Lopez said.

The marijuana was a potent type grown in Canada that sells for about 10 times the price of Mexican-grown marijuana, Lopez said.

Thompson, 30, was charged with possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of marijuana for sale.

If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison. He is being held at the Orange County Jail on $500,000 bail.
