Liberty Rallies to Defeat the Starzz

Tari Phillips scored 22 points and Crystal Robinson had 17 as the New York Liberty rallied from an 11-point deficit to defeat Utah, 71-68, in front of 6,123 on Tuesday at Salt Lake City.

Teresa Weatherspoon put the Liberty (6-2) ahead for good at 69-68 with an uncontested layup with 20.9 seconds remaining.

Adrienne Goodson, who scored 18 points for the Starzz (4-3), was called for an offensive foul on the next possession, and Robinson and Vickie Johnson each made a free throw in the last 9.5 seconds.

Miami 74, Cleveland 65--Sheri Sam scored 12 of her 18 points in the second half as the Sol (1-5) defeated the Rockers (1-3) in front of 5,726 at Miami.

Pollyanna Johns Kimbrough, playing against her former team, had 15 points and Debbie Black had 14 points and nine rebounds for the Sol.

Merlakia Jones had 20 points for Cleveland.

Minnesota 72, Sacramento 63--Katie Smith scored 22 points and Svetlana Abrosimova had 20, including three three-pointers, as the Lynx (3-3) held off the Monarchs (0-4) in front of 5,373 at Minneapolis.

Indiana 75, Orlando 69--Nikki McCray and Tamika Catchings each scored 20 points as the Fever (4-2) defeated the Miracle (3-2) in front of 4,323 at Orlando, Fla.

Houston 78, Charlotte 66--Sheryl Swoopes scored 25 points, including 22 in the second half, and Grace Daley had a career-high 19 as the Comets (5-2) defeated the Sting (2-4) in front of 7,861 at Houston.

Portland 70, Seattle 63--Ukari Figgs scored a season-high 16 points and Sylvia Crawley had 15 as the Fire (2-4) defeated the Storm (3-3) in front of 3,715 at Seattle.
