2 Doozies and a Duesie in ‘Hood Beverly

Share

At the annual Father’s Day pilgrimage to Beverly Hills for the Concours de Rodeo, the only thing that topped the vintage Duesenberg on display was running smack into Sharon and Ozzy, the erstwhile Prince of Darkness. The MTV stars were politely posing for photos at Two Rodeo, and Sharon looked absolutely radiant. I would too if I could shop in that ‘hood.

Falcon is making its debut tonight. The new Sunset Boulevard club is at the former Fritzi’s Hofbrau.... Forty Deuce, the new club at the old Kane’s, is off the hook. The hourly burlesque shows may have something to do with it.... And DJ Panic, a.k.a Meredith Chinn, says the new Standard Hotel Downtown is waaaay nice. She’s been spinning on its rooftop space....

And it don’t stop: Paul Stanley of KISS sang “Lick It Up” at the Viper Room on Monday. In addition, Roxy Sain’s new video, for the song “Firecracker,” made its debut that night. Scenesters are already calling the L.A. singer the female Marilyn Manson.... Looking for a firecracker of a summertime soundtrack? On L.A.-based Too Rude’s self-titled first record, singer Dog Boy sounds like a long-lost blues man reborn as a surf punk.

Las Palmas-Joya-Sangria owner Chris Pike tells me he’s looking into opening a new restaurant in Mammoth Mountain, which is being dramatically overhauled. Apparently, the owners of Dublin’s on the Strip also plan to open a nightclub in Mammoth. Add a Pike-owned spot, and Mammoth is really back in biz.

Ja Rule and Kevin Costner have been kicking it at Tempest in Hollywood on Saturdays. Can you say buddy flick?... In more Tempest news, owner Michael Najjar just bought R.J.’s Restaurant in Beverly Hills, two doors down from Joya. Excellent move.... DJ Sweeney Fly Trap, who spins Tuesdays at the Room at 9:30 p.m., blew everyone away last week with his clever mix of rock and schlock. Think Betty Blowtorch, the Buzzcocks and the Brady Bunch(!).... And U2 producer Daniel Lanois is scheduled to perform at Spaceland on June 29. Achtung, baby.
