Some Great Blocking Done at the Coliseum

Share

Great. Another victory for the politicians that “represent” Los Angeles. Mark Ridley-Thomas and other enlightened members of the City Council are again playing the Coliseum card, further delaying the return of the NFL, if it returns at all.

Let’s check the scorecard. The Anschutz group rolls out a plan for a state-of-the-art stadium that, like Staples Center, would revitalize downtown and get fans excited again. Plus, league officials have made it clear that the Coliseum is no longer a viable NFL option. Yet, Ridley-Thomas and his drones continue to block a great venture with the Coliseum Commission.

Of course, we’re all aware of that stellar tradition that the Coliseum Commission is striving to uphold. Over the years they’ve succeeded in chasing away the Lakers, Kings, Bruins, Rams and Raiders. Can’t figure out why the NFL wouldn’t be beating down the door to deal with this group of Mensa candidates all over again.

We had two season tickets to the L.A. Chargers and they left to go to San Diego. We had two season tickets to the L.A. Rams and they left to go to St. Louis via Anaheim. We had two season tickets to the L.A. Raiders and they left to go to Oakland.

We now have DirecTV and NFL Sunday Ticket and we can watch the above teams any time we want.

We have had four season tickets to the USC Trojans in our family for the past 65 years, and they are not moving away from the Coliseum, nor are we. We can’t trust NFL teams to stay in Los Angeles.
