The angry young rock of Papa Roach could not beat out the angry young rap of Eminem, whose “The Eminem Show” retains the top spot on the nation’s pop albums chart. “The Eminem Show” sold 381,000 copies last week, bringing its total sales to 3.3 million in four weeks.

Papa Roach’s “Lovehatetragedy,” which finds the Northern California rap-rock group veering more toward its heavy guitar sound than its hip-hop stylings, debuts this week at No. 2 with 136,000 copies sold.

The other debuts in the top 20 represent an eclectic trio of acts hailing from near neighbors of the U.S.: Haitian-born Wyclef Jean opens at No. 6 with “Masquerade,” followed by Toronto rock band Our Lady Peace at No. 9 with “Gravity,” and “Border Girl” from Mexico City pop singer Paulina Rubio at No. 11.

The most impressive leap of the week belonged to the “Lilo & Stitch” soundtrack, which, thanks to the film’s debut Friday, bounded from No. 57 to No. 16 on the chart, which is based on the retail reports collected by Nielsen SoundScan. The soundtrack is a mix of Hawaiian sounds and five hits by Elvis Presley, including “Hound Dog” and “Devil in Disguise.”

The king for the moment, though, remains Eminem, although retailers predict that the Detroit rhymer will lose his grip on No. 1 next week; St. Louis rapper Nelly’s highly anticipated “Nellyville” hit stores on Tuesday and is expected to sell more than 600,000 copies its first week.
