Man Arrested in Beating Death of Grandmother

A 29-year-old man was booked on suspicion of fatally beating his grandmother during an argument over the use of her car, police said.
Corene Bell, 75, was hit on the head Sunday at her home on Los Arcos Street, police said. She called her family and identified her attacker before dying, police said.
Steven Scruggs, 29, was arrested later when he got into an accident while driving Bell’s station wagon near Lakewood Boulevard and Los Coyotes Diagonal, police said.
