CHP Official Arrested in Hit-and-Run Crash
A high-ranking California Highway Patrol officer in charge of protecting the state’s top elected officials was arrested last week on suspicion of drunk driving and leaving an accident, officials said.
David Wilson, a 20-year CHP veteran, is one of the department’s 15 chiefs responsible for running the agency on a day-to-day basis. Wilson heads the CHP’s Protective Services Division.
Wilson, 48, was arrested March 19 at his home in Woodland, about 20 miles northwest of Sacramento, after allegedly running into a low retaining wall in his personal car and driving away without reporting the accident, police said.
Wilson was charged with misdemeanor drunk driving and hit-and-run. He is scheduled to appear in Yolo County Municipal Court on the charges April 19.
