DeMarco McCleskey rushed for two touchdowns and Cincinnati ended a four-game losing streak to Louisville by defeating the Cardinals, 24-14, in a Conference USA game Thursday night at Louisville, Ky.

The Cardinals (5-4, 3-2) lost for the second time in three home games. Cincinnati is 4-5 and 3-2.

Colorado State Coach Sonny Lubick agreed to a $2.5-million, five-year contract.... Bobby Williams, fired Monday as Michigan State coach, said in an interview with ESPN that he wasn’t given proper time to turn around the program. “I expected to not only coach the rest of the season but to be given the opportunity to fulfill the five-year commitment,” he said.... Arkansas State defensive end Brandon Rollins remained hospitalized with multiple fractures in his face and jaw and a broken left leg after falling three stories down an elevator shaft.... Nebraska offensive lineman Tamotu Tagoa’i pleaded not guilty to a year-old assault charge refiled after he failed to comply with a program in which he was ordered to do community service.... Nebraska quarterback Jammal Lord pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace.

Lynn Land, a former Memphis, Tenn., high school coach, pleaded guilty to a federal racketeering charge for accepting $150,000 to steer defensive lineman Albert Means to Alabama.... Florida State guard Matt Heinz will replace injured three-year starter Montrae Holland Saturday at Georgia Tech. Holland (high left ankle sprain) was among several Seminole players injured at Wake Forest, including running back Greg Jones, who was critical of the condition of the field at Wake Forest.... Marshall quarterback Byron Leftwich (sore left leg) says he doesn’t know if he will be able to play Tuesday against Miami, Ohio.
