HEROICS

* West Hills Chaminade quarterback Brian Roades caught a halfback pass from Marcus Everett for 60 yards, setting up Everett’s eight-yard touchdown run. Roades then threw a pass to Robert Theofanis for a two-point conversion with 4 minutes 36 seconds left to give the Eagles a 15-14 Mission League victory over Mission Hills Alemany.

* Dashawn Smith rushed eight yards for a touchdown with 35 seconds left and Jesus Alvarez kicked the extra point to give Sunset Six League champion Van Nuys Grant a 34-33 victory over Canoga Park.

* Barry Daniels caught a short pass and went 94 yards for a touchdown with 2:38 left to give Reseda a 26-20 Valley Mission League victory over Sepulveda Monroe. The win marks the 25th consecutive victory in a homecoming game for Reseda.

WINNERS

* Edwards AFB Desert finished its regular season unbeaten and clinched the High Desert League title with a 46-6 victory over Rosamond. Aaron Briemaster scored five touchdowns for the Scorpions, three on runs, one on a kickoff return and another by recovering a blocked punt in the end zone.

* Sargis Khodabakshyan rushed for 176 yards -- more than he had gained in all of his nine previous games -- and scored two touchdowns in Glendale’s 31-0 Pacific League victory over longtime rival Glendale Hoover.

* Sophomore Marlon Lucky rushed for 244 yards and two touchdowns to help North Hollywood (7-3, 3-2) avoid an upset loss to Tujunga Verdugo Hills, 29-22, in a Sunset Six game. Verdugo Hills (3-6-1, 2-3) rallied from a 22-0 deficit to make it close.

UPSETS

* In the final four minutes of the first half, Aaron McGuiness completed touchdown passes of 59, nine and 36 yards to Nigel Orozco to help La Crescenta Crescenta Valley (6-4, 3-2) to a 49-28 victory over previously undefeated Arcadia, No. 3 in the Southern Section’s Division III poll and the Pacific League’s No. 1 entrant to the playoffs. McGuiness passed for 312 yards and ran 17 for another touchdown.
