New York Giant receiver Ike Hilliard will sit out the rest of the season after dislocating his right shoulder on a hit by all-pro safety Brian Dawkins of the Philadelphia Eagles.

An MRI exam Tuesday disclosed a tear in both Hilliard’s labrum and pectoralis muscle. He will undergo surgery in about a month and will at some point be put on injured reserve.

The normal rehabilitation period for the surgery Hilliard will undergo is three months.

This is the second season-ending injury for Hilliard, who sat out most of his rookie season after suffering a neck injury that required surgery.
