Spreading Wildfire Prompts Evacuations
A wildfire that broke out near Agua Dulce spread quickly in wind and simmering heat Saturday, briefly threatening dozens of homes and power lines, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The 1,250-acre blaze near Soledad Canyon and Briggs Road was reported about 11:30 a.m., fire officials said. Three hundred firefighters were battling the blaze by the early afternoon, aided by four helicopters and three fixed-wing aircraft, fire officials said.
A voluntary evacuation for about 250 homes was in effect, but the homes weren’t in immediate danger.
