Metrolink Investigation Delays Six Trains
Morning rail commuters were delayed up to two hours Tuesday when an engineer and conductor were removed from a Metrolink train so investigators could determine whether they had violated federal regulations. In all, six trains were delayed.
Details about possible violations were not disclosed.
The incident occurred about 7 a.m. in Fullerton and involved Train 682, which runs from Los Angeles to Irvine, Metrolink spokeswoman Sharon Gavin said.
Whenever a potential breach of federal operating rules occurs, Metrolink stops the train, replaces the crew and investigates, she said. That delayed one Amtrak train and four other Metrolink trains from 17 minutes to two hours. About 1,000 Metrolink passengers were inconvenienced, she said.
