Masters Ratings Were Down Slightly

With Tiger Woods falling out of contention early, TV ratings for the final round of the Masters were off from a year ago. The overnight Nielsen rating for Sunday’s round was a 9.3, compared to a 9.9 a year ago, when Woods won his second consecutive Masters.
The highest rating for the final round of the Masters is a 15.8 in 1997, when Woods won his first Masters title.
As for number of viewers, CBS reported that Sunday’s round drew 34.5 million, which is the third-most for the final round of the Masters. In 1997, 43 million watched and in 2001 there were 40.1 million viewers.
In Los Angeles, Sunday’s final round got a 7.8 rating with a 17 share of the audience. The Lakers’ game at Portland on Channel 7 got an 8.6/18.
