A berry peachy and flaky treat
At EM Bistro, pastry chef Natasha MacAller bakes individual deep-dish pies filled with a mixture of peaches and blueberries and covered with a buttery, flaky crust. When it comes to the table, each summery pie is topped with two generous scoops of lemon verbena ice cream. (Deep-dish peach and blueberry pie, $9.)

Two different shades of blue
Josie’s has two blueberry desserts to choose from, one for the purist and one for the adventurer. For the purist, there’s an old-fashioned blueberry crumble -- cups of blueberries covered with a crisp crumble crust, served hot with homemade vanilla bean ice cream. The adventurer’s dessert is a thick layer of tart lemon curd covered with blueberries, all in a flaky poppy seed crust. It’s dressed with blueberry syrup with creme fraiche. (Blueberry crumble and blueberry lemon curd pie, $9.)

A few twists and a nutty finish
James D’Aquila, chef/owner of Wild Artichoke, throws a few unusual twists into his blueberry cobbler. First he coats the serving bowl with homemade caramel mascarpone before putting in a scoop of hot blueberry cobbler (under a crust enriched with cream). The cobbler itself has a dash of cinnamon in it, as well a drop of amaretto, which adds a nutty finish. Finally, before it reaches you, the cobbler is finished with several scoops of blackberry ice cream, dusted with powdered sugar and topped with a sprig of mint. (Blueberry cobbler, $7.50.)
Wild Artichoke, 4973-A Yorba Ranch Road, Yorba Linda, (714) 777-9646.
Apricots go along for ride
Ammo serves its blueberry apricot galette at both lunch and dinner. This tasty, understated dessert consists of a very thin crust topped with a barely there layer of pastry cream, then a thin layer of apricots and a sprinkling with blueberries. The individual galettes are served warm with vanilla bean ice cream. (Blueberry, apricot galette: lunch, $8; dinner, $10.)
Ammo, 1155 N. Highland Ave., Hollywood, 323) 871-2666.
