Blackout Stops Giants-Mets
The Northeast power blackout forced the evacuation of Shea Stadium and the postponement of Thursday night’s game between the Mets and the San Francisco Giants.
The game was postponed about an hour before the scheduled 7:10 p.m. EDT start, and before the gates had opened. No makeup date has been announced. It was the final game of a three-game series and the Giants’ only trip to New York this season.
The Mets were starting to take batting practice in the stadium when the lights went out in their clubhouse, just after 4 p.m.
