What will Keyshawn Johnson, deactivated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, do with all his free time?

SportsPickle.com asked that question of readers and here are a few of the responses:

* “Petition Webster’s to put an “I” in “team.”

* “Begin production of Key- shawn the Magazine.”

* “Throw self the damn ball.”

* “Continue to not score touchdowns.”

Trivia time: Since 1997, who is the only golfer besides Tiger Woods to be named PGA Tour player of the year?

All-planet team: From a recent column by Mike Downey of the Chicago Tribune: “A certain wide receiver introduced himself for ABC’s ‘Monday Night Football’ as Terrell Owens, from another planet, while other San Francisco 49ers identified themselves the regular way, by name and college. The more I hear from Owens, Bill Romanowski, Fred Taylor, Chad Johnson, Keyshawn Johnson, etc., the more I think Another Planet had a heck of a football team.”

Makes sense: Terry Bradshaw is an advocate of the running game, and he explained why on Fox’s NFL pregame show earlier this season.

“When I was a little bitty boy and my mamma was goin’ to whip me, did you know what I would do? I would take off running and by the time that poor little ol’ skinny woman would catch up with me, she was too tired to whip my butt.

“When you run the football in this league, you wear everybody out, and you can do anything you want.”

No more guarantees: Before the Cincinnati Bengals played the then-undefeated Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 16, Bengal receiver Chad Johnson guaranteed a victory over the Chiefs. The Bengals defeated the Chiefs, 24-19.

NFL Network’s Seth Joyner asked Bengal Coach Marvin Lewis if there were going to be more guarantees from Johnson.

“The only guarantee he has made since is the one to his teammates that there wouldn’t be any more guarantees,” Lewis said.

Optimism abounds: On ESPN Sunday, before the Bengals won again to improve to 7-5, Chris Berman showed a pamphlet that he said he hadn’t seen for a decade. It was an application for Bengal playoff tickets.

Looking back: Thirty years ago today, Jack Nicklaus won the Disney World Open to become the first golfer to reach $2 million in career earnings.

Trivia answer: Mark O’Meara, in 1998, when he won the Masters and the British Open.

And finally: So who is going to be the PGA Tour player of the year for 2003? As Stuart Appleby said on the USA Network’s PGA show Sunday, “It was a no-brainer that last four years. But not this year.” It seems to come down to Woods or Vijay Singh.

O’Meara indicated his vote would go to Woods. “If you took Tiger’s year [five PGA Tour victories] and gave it to Vijay, and took Vijay’s year [four PGA Tour victories and the money title] and gave it to Tiger, Vijay would win player of the year.”
