Stanford Beats Oregon State
The Oregon State student booster section had it all wrong: Never taunt Stanford’s Julius Barnes by calling him “Juli.”
“They didn’t realize that that’s what the coaches call me on the floor,” Barnes said. “It’s an abbreviation.”
Barnes responded with a career-high 33 points and the No. 25 Cardinal defeated Oregon State, 84-73, on Sunday.
Stanford, 17-6 overall, 8-3 in the Pacific 10 Conference, has won eight of its last 10, but was coming off a 79-64 loss to Oregon on Thursday night.
The Beavers (11-9, 4-7) have lost two in a row after a four-game winning streak.
Barnes’ previous best was 28 points against Rice on Nov. 24.
